Promotes, manages and oversees ongoing programs to evaluate, repair and maintain building systems and related equipment located within and around campus buildings. Participates in evaluating building systems for correct operation; coordinates and reviews building system audits and surveys; works with others to plan repairs and preventive maintenance; coordinates internal labor and/or external contractors to enact repairs and preventive maintenance tasks; Helps develop planned work and preventive maintenance programs at the shop level; develops and procures contracts; provides services for both internal subsidized equipment and external billable equipment for associated departments; serves as project manager for repair and replacement (R&R) projects for all Central Maintenance Shops; tracks all associated documentation; provides status and prioritized reports; provides technical consultation to other FOD staff (including the Wexner Medical Center) as requested; serves as the back-up Designated Asbestos Abatement Coordinator for FOD Operations; working knowledge of codes, building design standards, permits, etc.; assists with maintenance of the President's Residence; working hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Central Maintenance Shop, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate. Subject to 24-hour emergency call.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent (i.e. five or more years applicable experience, journey person certification in applicable trade, etc.); valid driver’s license; knowledge of plumbing/pipe fitting, steam system equipment operations and systems; building systems maintenance; basic HVAC and controls knowledge; basic electricity knowledge; basic mechanical knowledge; ability to develop, plan and manage ongoing repair and maintenance programs; ability to understand and interpret technical instructions and plan reading; willingness to obtain Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor training and Asbestos Hazard Abatement Specialist certification.
Technical training in building systems operations and building system controls; basic sheet metal and roofing knowledge; supervision experience; computer literacy with AiM, OSU building Design Standards, Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of estimating.
Target Salary: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 Annually
