Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Directs activities of multi-skilled trades who perform skilled carpentry work in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, stairways, partitions, doors, door and window hardware, locks, windows, screens, scaffolding, roofing systems, concrete forms and placement, wood fixtures, and furniture
Responsible for communication and scheduling of vendors and contractors to perform work on campus and monitors their compliance, budget and quality for timely completion of outsourced work
Prioritizes work orders and distributes work among the team
Ensures compliance with WKU policies and procedures and other relevant regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over the work
Performs computer work such as e-mails, spreadsheets, word processing, internet parts research, intranet human resources functions, evaluations, memos, etc.
Maintains written records such as building operations manuals, time sheets, work orders, quotes, training, etc.
Oversees daily building inspections
Assists team to perform general repair and maintenance for all University properties
Provides project cost estimates for University departmental and auxiliary groups for facilities billable work
Promotes safe work practices
Operates University vehicles
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains excellent communication/customer service with Building Coordinators and all other DFM Supervisors
Communicates bi-laterally with other supervisors within DFM to coordinate work activities between groups
Performs other duties as required
High School Diploma or GED equivalency
At least ten years of experience in construction management or building maintenance work
At least three years of supervisory and training knowledge/experience is essential
Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license
Salary Grade: 109 Salary Range: $21.10 - $24.32
