Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for: building systems, industrial systems, vehicles, and equipment.
Has specialized knowledge of overhead doors, conveyors, plant equipment, and material handling equipment.
Responds to general maintenance duties and operates building equipment and systems.
Utilizes several trade skills such as machining, plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Performs assigned repairs and preventive maintenance.
Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
Reviews assigned work orders.
Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair.
Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
Performs specialized tasks such as overhead doors, conveyors, other material handling equipment, electrical, roofing, HVAC, and welding tasks.
Replace overhead door panels, replacing and adjusting tension springs.
Repair and replace door operators and controls.
Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo driven equipment, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), photo electrical devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and encoders.
Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
Welding equipment such as hand rails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grading.
Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.
Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed
Completes administrative tasks timely; work order management, vehicle maintenance, payroll and timekeeping, and expense reports.
Performs work in compliance with standard operating procedures and/or critical work packages, and maintenance work instructions.
Uses PC, tablet, and/or cell phone for work order systems and email.
Performs other duties as assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
Provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers.
May coordinate work and assign tasks as needed for multiple technician jobs.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four years of related experience and/or trade school training.
Two years in installation or repair of commercial overhead doors and operators.
Sectional door experienced in properly handle overhead door sections: including loading and unloading a truck; how to swap sections, and how to effectively troubleshoot door and operator issues, and door with dual spring lines and outside cable hook up
Preferred experienced in techniques for rolling steel; including replacing damaged or defective slats and barrels, cabling of fusible links, all drop test procedures
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Additional certification in one or more of the following is preferred: overhead door installation, welding, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, controls, mechanical power transmissions, plumbing, or engine repair.
Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.
Requires intermediate analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training.
Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
